A Willingness to Investigate and Learn Independently

Add to Favourites

The role of the Clinical Educator is to support the student to eventually become an independent clinician. Thus from day one, the student should be encouraged to learn independently and be willing to continually learn. Please refer to the Facilitating Learning section of this website for more detailed information.

Consider how you work with your student.

If your student asked you a direct question when would you:

  • Give them the answer straight away?
  • Rephrase the question in a different way to probe their thoughts?
  • Guide the student where to find the answer?

Every circumstance is different and there will be occasions when it is appropriate to respond in any or a combination of the above ways.
